Building robots, forging champions. A student-led FTC team driven by engineering, teamwork, and a little bit of ping pong along the way
FIRST Tech Challenge is a student-led program that goes far beyond building robots. We are engineers, programmers, designers, marketers, fundraisers, and community leaders — all on the same team. FTC develops the skills that colleges and employers actually look for, wrapped in one of the most competitive student programs in the world.
Students design, build, and iterate a competition robot from scratch each season — learning mechanical engineering, CAD concepts, and hands-on fabrication in a real design cycle.
We code autonomous robot behavior and driver-control systems using Java. Members develop real software engineering skills — the same language used in professional Android development.
Every team manages a brand, pitches to sponsors, writes a business plan, and markets itself to judges — building skills in communication, finance, and entrepreneurship.
FTC teams earn awards for giving back. We run STEM events, mentor younger students, and connect with our community — outreach is scored just as much as robot performance.
Each season a new game challenge is released. Teams compete in qualifying tournaments, state championships, and the FIRST World Championship in Houston — against thousands of teams globally.
FIRST Tech Challenge alumni have access to tens of millions of dollars in college scholarships. 61% of FIRST alumni declare a major in engineering or computer science by their fourth year of college.
Your support helps fund robot parts, registration fees, travel, and STEM outreach events. Sponsors receive logo placement on our robot, pit display, and team materials.
